Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Town Hall is closed 11/16-11/29. However, Planning and Zoning Department staff are available to assist you electronically or by phone.   

Public Notice: The Town's  MS4  annual permit report is available for public comment Oct. 15th - Nov. 30th. Email comments to sshumsky@townofbernalillo.org.

The Town recently transitioned all permitting and inspections to the NM Construction Industries Division (CID). 

For current projects that have a building permit from the Town, fill out and hand deliverConversion Permit to CID at 5500 San Antonio Dr. NE in Albuquerque. CID charges a $30 fee for conversion permits. Plan sets were hand delivered to CID on Sept. 25th. CID will conduct the remainder of building inspections. For trades permits from Rio Rancho, continue to contact them for inspections.

For NEW building permits:
  1. CONTRACTORS:  For a NEW general construction permit, including porches, garages, carports, patios, portals, etc., fill out and submit the attached Building Permit Application and a copy of your building plans, to the Planning and Zoning Director at: sshumsky@townofbernalillo.org
  2. HOMEOWNERS: For a NEW homeowners permit, fill out and submit the attached Homeowner Building Permit Application Packet and a copy of your building plansto the Planning and Zoning Director at: sshumsky@townofbernalillo.org.
  3. Town staff will conduct the zoning and floodplain review and contact you if additional information is needed. If you already know that your property is in the floodplain, also submit a Floodplain Development Permit Application.
  4. After the Town's review is complete, staff will email you the fee amount for the zoning and floodplain review and, once paid, will email you the signed application.
  5. Submit the signed application, 2 copies of your building plans, along with any other required documents, to CID electronically via their website: www.rld.state.nm.us OR in person at 5500 San Antonio Dr. NE in Albuquerque.
For all other applications, including manufactured/mobile home placement permits, go to the Planning and Zoning Department's Forms and Applications web page. Fill out and email your application to the Planning and Zoning Director at: sshumsky@townofbernalillo.org  

Once the application is reviewed, we will email you with the fee amount. Once the fee is received (via phone/credit card OR mail/check), we will email you the permit and a copy of your receipt.
