About the Town Administrator

The Town Administrator is the chief of staff appointed by the Mayor. He or she is responsible for all daily management and human resource operations conducted on behalf of the Town. The Town Administrator also oversees the planning, coordination, and evaluation of Town policies, procedures, and activities related to Town business.

Stephen Jerge was appointed as Town Administrator on May 22, 2006. Mr. Jerge has a diverse background in financial and human resources management, strategic planning, property and facilities acquisition/disposition and lease negotiations, legislative bill drafting and analysis, capital improvement planning, grant administration oversight and statewide project implementation. Prior to joining the Town of Bernalillo, Mr. Jerge held positions as Business/Finance Director at Belen Consolidated Schools, Assistant County Manager and Finance Director in San Miguel County, and Deputy Director of the Property Tax Division at the State of NM Taxation and Revenue Department. Mr. Jerge holds a Master's of Business Administration in Financial Management from New Mexico Highlands University and a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Human Resource Management with Minors in Finance & Economics from New Mexico State University.
